Spears Entertains Rugby Fans

The Spears Touch Rugby Tournament which took place yesterday at the NMB Splash Festival at Hobie Beach of the Mandela Bay, got off to a good start and the crowds were entertained during the entire day of the event. Great response from the public and also to those who entered their teams for the competition. Though the games started later than the scheduled time-table due to the delayed preparations of the beach field, this did not break any of the teams spirit as they played with high enthusiasm and contested the games extremely well. Spears as the tournament sponsor also welcomed the entries from across the oceans, which were England, Scotland and Wales touring schools to South Africa. All three teams visiting from UK expressed their delight and gratitude for taking part in the tournament. Unfortunately they had to leave after their matches yesterday due to their travelling schedule.

The crowd stayed until the last game was played and that coinciding with the first few drops of rain. Few local schools will also participate and compete for their prize category tomorrow alongside with senior final matches. Today promises to be a fun filled day at the Hobie Beach as there are few senior teams that are through to finals with the hope of winning prizes to the value of R16 750-00, courtesy of sponsors involved in this tournament.

These senior teams due to play the finals are:- Mecer Dolphins, Beeskraal, The Replacements, Maplothers and PA Boys.
