These
are the basic rules for the Super 12 so they should stand for the Super 14.
Points
Tabulation:
Points will be awarded in all Super 12 matches on the following
basis.
Win 4 points
Draw 2 points
Loss 1 point for loss within 7
points or less of the team that wins
Loss 0 points for loss of more than 7
points.
1 point for scoring 4 tries or more in a match
Determining semi-finalists/venues:
Position in the competition table shall be determined by competiton points
as set out above.
In the event of a tie on points, position will be determined
by points scored for and against. The team with the highest margin being the leading
team.
If a tie still exists, position will be determined by result of match
between the teams vying for position.
If still a tie, the most tries scored
will define the leading team.
The top four teams will play off to determine
the finalists. Team One v Team Four and Team Two v Team Three.
The top two
teams will host the semi-final matches.
Determining semi-final winner:
In
the result of a tie 20 minutes extra time will be played.
If teams are still
tied after extra time, the team scoring the most tries will go through.
If
still tied, the team finishing higher in the round robin stage will go through.
Determining final venue:
The final will be played at the ground
of the highest qualifying team successful in the semi-final play off leg.
If
teams are tied after exra time in the final, both teams will be declared joint
winners.
